Terms & Privacy
Terms of Use
By using HypnotherapistFinder (“the site”), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
Use of the service
The site helps you find hypnotherapists and related information. Listing on the directory does not constitute an endorsement. You are responsible for your own decisions when choosing or engaging a therapist. We do not provide medical or therapeutic advice.
Accounts
If you create an account, you must provide accurate information and keep your password secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. Do not share your login details.
Conduct
You must not use the site to post false, offensive, or unlawful content; impersonate others; or attempt to gain unauthorised access to systems or other users’ data. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms.
Content you submit
Reviews and other content you submit must be honest and your own. You grant us a licence to use, display, and store that content in connection with operating the site. We may remove content that we consider inappropriate or in breach of these terms.
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance. The “Last updated” date at the bottom of this page indicates when the terms were last revised.
Privacy Policy
We respect your privacy. This policy describes what data we collect and how we use it.
Information we collect
- Account data: When you register or use a therapist listing, we collect information you provide (e.g. name, email, profile details, location, and any content you add).
- Reviews: If you leave a review, we store the name and comment you provide (and, when logged in, link it to your account).
- Technical data: We may collect IP address, browser type, and similar technical information when you visit the site. We may use cookies for session management and preferences.
How we use your information
We use your data to operate the site (e.g. displaying listings and reviews), to communicate with you (e.g. account or password emails), and to improve the service. We do not sell your personal information to third parties for marketing.
Sharing
Information you choose to make public (e.g. therapist profile, reviews) is visible to other users. We may share data with service providers that help us run the site (e.g. hosting), subject to confidentiality and data protection obligations. We may disclose data if required by law.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your data (e.g. secure connections, access controls). No system is completely secure; you provide information at your own risk.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to object to or restrict certain processing. Contact us using the details below to exercise these rights. If you are in the UK or EU, see the GDPR section below for your full rights and how we process your data under the GDPR.
Retention
We keep your data for as long as needed to operate the site and as required by law. You can delete your account or request deletion of your data; we will remove or anonymise it where practicable.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will indicate the last updated date below. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
GDPR (UK & EU)
If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area (EEA), the UK GDPR and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) give you additional rights and require us to be clear about how we process your personal data.
Legal basis
We process your personal data on the following bases:
- Contract: To provide the service you use (e.g. account, directory listing, reviews).
- Consent: Where you have given clear consent (e.g. optional communications or specific uses). You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests: To run, secure, and improve the site (e.g. technical logs, analytics, fraud prevention), where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
- Legal obligation: Where we must process or retain data to comply with the law.
Your rights under GDPR
You have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification — have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected.
- Erasure — request deletion of your personal data (“right to be forgotten”) in certain circumstances.
- Restrict processing — ask us to limit how we use your data in certain situations.
- Data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format where technically feasible.
- Object — object to processing based on legitimate interests or for direct marketing.
- Withdraw consent — where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.
- Lodge a complaint — with a supervisory authority. In the UK: ICO; in the EU: your local data protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in the Contact section below. We will respond within one month (or explain why an extension is needed). There is no charge for exercising your rights unless the request is clearly unfounded or excessive.
International transfers
If we transfer your data outside the UK or EEA, we will ensure appropriate safeguards are in place (e.g. adequacy decisions, standard contractual clauses, or other approved mechanisms) so that your data is protected to an equivalent standard.
Retention
We keep your personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this policy and to meet legal obligations. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it. You can request erasure of your data at any time, subject to any legal retention requirements.
